Drive change: volunteer for Green Flow research

At Tools In Future, we're pioneering solutions for better traffic flow in New Zealand. We invite currently enrolled university students to join our Green Flow Initiative, a behavioural research project aimed at making our roads safer and more efficient. Your everyday commute can contribute to groundbreaking academic insights and public benefit.

Your role in shaping our transport future

We are seeking enthusiastic university students who can help us understand and improve real-world traffic patterns. To be eligible, you'll need to own or have consistent access to a vehicle, hold a valid New Zealand driver licence, and regularly commute to and from university during peak hours. We value reliability, safety-consciousness, and a willingness to contribute to anonymised academic research. No special driving skills are needed – just your commitment to making a difference.

Grow your skills and make a real impact

Volunteering with the Green Flow Initiative offers unique benefits that boost your academic and professional journey. You'll receive formal publication acknowledgement in official project reports, gain hands-on field research experience in behavioural traffic modelling, and enhance your CV with documented participation in a publicly relevant transport research initiative. Plus, as the project expands, you'll have priority opportunities to present your findings to younger peers in schools, directly contributing to a more sustainable transport culture.

Your contribution: simple, structured, significant

Participating in our research seamlessly integrates with your normal routine. You'll continue your usual peak-hour commutes to and from university, during which non-invasive monitoring equipment will temporarily be installed in your vehicle. We ask that you keep your mobile phone secured in an approved holder and, most importantly, always follow all standard New Zealand road rules. You'll also attend a brief initial briefing, periodic check-ins, and engaging bi-weekly lunch sessions to discuss insights collaboratively. The full participation period is approximately 4–8 weeks.

"Our research: understanding human behaviour for smarter, safer New-Zealand roads."

Tools In Future is committed to ethically governed, research-led initiatives. Your participation contributes to measurable public benefit, shaping a more sustainable transport culture for all.
