Driving a greener, smarter future

The Green Flow Initiative: the starting point and long-term vision of Tools In Future. Discover how coordinated human behaviour can transform our transport systems, leading to safer roads, reduced costs, and a more sustainable future for Wellington beyond.

Redefining traffic flow

Green Flow isn't just a project; it's a unified approach to traffic management. We believe that improved driver behaviour is key to creating safer roads, reducing vehicle and infrastructure wear, lowering fuel consumption, and decreasing costs for local councils and insurers. It’s about leveraging human behaviour, not just technology, for a more efficient, sustainable transport system here in Aotearoa.

Join the movement

We're looking to connect with a diverse group of change-makers. Are you a university student with a vehicle, commuting regularly, eager to contribute to real-world research? Are you a university or researcher seeking collaboration in applied behavioural traffic modelling? Or perhaps a local council or transport agency exploring infrastructure-light solutions? Green Flow offers a practical path to safer, more efficient roads without waiting for full automation or costly expansion.

Our vision for a smarter Aotearoa

At Tools In Future, we believe meaningful improvement is possible without waiting for full automation. Our behavioural-first philosophy focuses on the dominant variable: human behaviour. While vehicle technology is vital, most New Zealand roads operate in mixed systems. By measuring and modelling real-world driver behaviour, we aim to improve stability within existing infrastructure, proving that coordination can significantly reduce phantom congestion and shape the next generation of drivers.

"The Green Flow Initiative offers a refreshing, credible approach to traffic. It’s inspiring to see how behavioural insights can lead to such a clear path for meaningful, long-term improvement in our transport systems. This is truly the future of sustainable mobility."
